This client has about 275 locations, many of which are located in Northern California where most of the stores are in franchised sites without the option for price negotiation. They also had an aggressive recycling program for cardboard and plastic already in place. Waste Control negotiated below-market rates for the stores in open competition cities, identified the stores in franchised cities where an additional single-stream recycling program would provide further cost savings, and made right-sizing changes. Waste Control personnel met with the client’s personnel to train them in the new recycling program. These changes produced a savings of approximately 11%, or over $50,000 annually. Waste Control’s on-going management of this Client’s waste service has resulted in an additional $25,000 worth of savings over the past year.
